About

Staff Software Engineer / AI Architect at commercetools. Close to twenty years building distributed cloud products: multi-tenant SaaS, payments, and lately agent systems.

How I work

Most of my work is on systems that are hard to reason about once they are live: payment flows, multi-tenant platforms, agent loops, anything with an audit attached. I tend to argue for fewer moving parts and explicit boundaries, and for putting security in the architecture rather than in a checklist at the end.

  • Security architecture. Zero Trust for payment systems, PCI compliance, tenant isolation.
  • Platform and delivery. Kubernetes, Istio, Terraform, and the pipelines around them.
  • Agent systems. Tool gateways, context management, and the observability needed to debug a non-deterministic loop.
  • Working with teams. Design reviews, mentoring, and the code review habits that keep a codebase readable.

What I am building now

mosAIc is an agentic commerce platform: a natural-language request becomes real commercetools operations, and the answer comes back as a generated, data-bound interface instead of a wall of text. It runs as a TypeScript monorepo, with Next.js for the chat and generative canvas, an Express and Inversify API, and a Mastra orchestrator on top of PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.

The parts I own:

  • The agent harness. Capabilities arrive over an MCP gateway rather than as hard-coded tools, raw API responses land in a per-run DuckDB and are queried back with SQL so the model context stays bounded, and writes need explicit confirmation.
  • A2UI end to end. Schema manager, validator, component catalogs and the React renderer for Google's agent-to-UI protocol, so agents emit UI instead of prose.
  • Commerce automation. Campaign and discount automation against the commercetools platform, a multi-API composition engine on JSONata and a DAG, a discount predicate parser and validator, and an offline eval suite for comparing models.
  • The engineering substrate. RFC 8693 token exchange, observability with Prometheus, Pino and OpenTelemetry, a gated knowledge base that fails CI when docs drift from the code they describe, and an agent-skill system for AI-assisted development.

Multi-tenancy is enforced with row-level security in PostgreSQL through Drizzle, and the models behind it are Anthropic Claude and Google Vertex AI.

Experience

    subastic

Founded Subastic, a search platform for the Spanish public auctions published in the BOE. It aggregates the official listings and adds what the government search lacks: filtering by property type, location and price, auction locations on a map, images and full property detail, and side-by-side comparison.

  3. Staff Software Engineer (C4)

    Apr 2021 – May 2022

    oracle

Built a platform for managing global supply and demand for hotel rooms from the ground up, running at scale in a distributed multi-tenant cloud. Won the HIFIVE22 innovation contest with ML-based detection of booking cancellations, and raised the throughput of a custom Node.js router by 30% through routing caches and lower-level HTTP connection handling.

    Jun 2015 – Mar 2021

    pivotree

Main architect for multi-tenant SaaS products, responsible for the serverless SaaS architecture and for keeping tenant resources isolated and secure. Focused on security, authentication and authorization across microservices on AWS, built the in-house hosting solution for hybris projects, and interviewed engineers.

  5. Technical Leader

    Nov 2013 – Oct 2015

    icf

Designed, integrated and tested hybris solutions with over 20 million products per catalog version. Improved catalog synchronization by around 30% by customizing the hybris engine, tuned SolR indexing speed, and built a real-time auction system on websockets.
